Crank operated blinds for state-of-the-art Gloucester academy

In July 2016, developers Robert Hitchins broke ground on for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art academy begin in Longford, Gloucester.

Just ten months later, the school is preparing for its first intake of pupils and Swanmac has completed the installation of roller blinds to all windows across the school, including crank operated blinds to high level windows.

The building has been designed to allow as much light flow-through as possible and this involves height! Our crank operated blinds ensure that the students and teachers remain able to enjoy the building by having full control over the levels of light and shade that are allowed to enter.  The blinds are installed complete with safety features, including removable crank handles to prevent any unauthorised use.

Liam Hinkley, Headteacher said, “The school building is beautifully designed with an emphasis on light and space whilst boasting a great outdoor environment”.

Part of a development based on the construction of 570 new homes in the Whittington Park area, the academy is a 1 form entry nursery and primary school which will grow to accommodate up to 210 children from Reception through to Year 6.

We wish the teachers and pupils well!
