In 2010, the University of Wales, Newport (as it was then known) proudly re-located from its existing campus in Allt-yr-yn, to a brand-new facility in the heart of Newport City Centre.
Overlooking the River Usk, the five-storey, glass fronted City Centre Campus quickly became one of the University’s most iconic buildings, perfectly located to embrace city life in Newport. And with the student Halls of Residence just a few minutes away – the students may have been delighted to have just a short hop to their first lecture of the day!
Alongside successful contractor, Willmott Dixon, Swanmac installed a range of our flagship products onsite including over 300 heavy duty roller blinds to all windows, and electric curtain tracks in both lecture theatres.
The project clearly defined the University’s important role in the social and economic regeneration of Newport and the surrounding area. Prior to construction, Chris Harding, the architectural firm BDP’s Head of Education said “The building creates a sociable and exciting setting to stimulate collaborative interdisciplinary learning and research on a spectacular waterfront site. The new building will transform the identity of this progressive University.”
Whilst this project was completed several years ago, it is one in which Swanmac consistently remains extremely proud. The quality and quantity of products supplied were on-time, in full, and to the highest standard!
