Boyes Rees Architects designed Coleg Y Cymoedd’s new Taff Ely Campus to reflect the college’s diverse, evolving curriculum. The design itself, incorporate six major sustainable development objectives and so has achieved a BREEAM outstanding rating.
Designed over three floors, the building houses facilities for specialist courses including computing, creative media, care and childhood studies, hospitality and catering, and hair and beauty.
As a result, the staff and 3,000 students now reside in modern facilities which include a gym, crèche, learning centre, training restaurant, hair and beauty salon and large performing arts spaces.
Working with contractor Laing O’Rourke the team at Swanmac have supplied and installed over 250 heavy duty roller blinds to all classroom windows. Robust and able to withstand high levels of use, these blinds help to maintain heat and manage glare within learning spaces, and are built for the long term. In addition, Swanmac also supplied curtains and curtain tracks to the hair and beauty departments.
We have been delighted to see this project come to fruition and wish all staff and students every success!
