Blackout Curtains for student accommodation in Swansea Bay

Swansea University has undergone significant development during the last few years, primarily with the launch of the new Bay Campus.  Home to the College of Engineering and the School of Management the 46,500 sq ft building is one of the few university buildings in the UK with direct access to the beach.

Due for completion in October 2018, the Campus is also home to a 3-storey red brick student residential block.  Students are able to choose from single en-suite rooms, shared twin en-suite rooms or flats.  It is within this block that Swanmac has been instructed by Vinci Construction to install blackout curtains to every bedroom – some 500 in total.

The location of the campus is quite unique. In addition to beach access, the facility even includes its own promenade!

The site itself is south-facing. It is this, and the beachfront position, that has led to the requirement for blackout curtains.  These curtains will provide complete blackout when needed, and also protection from harmful sun rays.

We are delighted to have been instructed and look forward to completing this installation during the summer of 2018!
