Once again working with contractor Laing O’Rourke, Swanmac is delighted to have been instructed to install cubicle tracks to 417 beds in the new Specialist and Critical Care Centre in Cwmbran. This includes tracks to all bedroom windows and cubicle tracks to all ward areas. This is the second installation by Swanmac on-site; the first being fully enclosed blackout blinds (Click here for the case study from August 2019)
The new £350m hospital is designed to be fluid in its configuration so that it can be expanded as required. Through the clever design of universal rooms, the hospital has operational flexibility in order to meet demand. Universal rooms also enable the blurring of departmental boundaries which also accommodates changing demand.
The hospital is set in landscaped grounds with views across the surrounding south Wales countryside and has access to therapeutic spaces to promote healing and wellness. In a sector that struggles to recruit and retain staff, it also offers a highly connected environment, with first-class staff spaces aimed at delivering a working environment that will attract and retain the very best staff.
