Roller blinds for 280,000ft² Science Museum, Swindon

A brand new 280,000ft² National Collections Centre in Swindon, Wiltshire will soon be home to over 300,000 items belonging to the Science Museum Group collection.  Construction began early in 2019 and is due for completion in 2020.

Kier Construction will be developing this fantastic new facility and has asked Swanmac to install roller blinds to all office windows this coming Spring.

The development of this facility will transform how the Science Museum Group (SMG) shares its collection. Many items that will be on display will have been sitting in storage for decades.

The biggest project that SMG has ever taken on, it’s hoped that better access to artefacts will inspire a generation of engineers and scientists. The building is sustainable and will be operationally efficient to ensure a high standard of care for the artefacts within.

Swanmac will install roller blinds to office windows which will support a productive and positive working environment for staff. Whist the staff may not be as old as the artefacts within the museum, they certainly need just as much looking after – and we’re more than happy to play our part in this!
