Wall Protection for iconic Cardiff Royal Infirmary

The Cardiff Royal Infirmary has been looking after the people of the Welsh capital since 1883 and is currently undergoing a £37 million transformation.

The building is Grade II listed and comprises of a dense complex of decommissioned buildings that have been vacant since the mid-90s.   Many of the buildings are to remain following the transformation, but many have been demolished to make way for this redevelopment.  The challenge has been to conserve one of Cardiff’s most significant and historic healthcare sites, whilst developing provision for modern and first-class healthcare for the people of Cardiff.

Services currently delivered at CRI include Drugs & Alcohol support, Out of Hours Medical Services, Outpatients Clinics, Physiotherapy, Radiology and Integrated Sexual Health.  Future facilities are still to be decided.

Following instruction from contractor Willmott Dixon, #TeamSwanmac has been onsite during the renovations to install wall protection, wall sheeting and cubicle tracks throughout.  We watch and wait to see what the future of this historical, and icon of Cardiff health, holds.
