Soyo Apartments, Leeds

Contractor: Caddick construction

Architect: DLG Architects

Sector: Residential

Project Value:  £81m

Product: Wave Curtains

SOYO Leeds is a brand new £81m mixed-use development, found in the centre of the cultural district of Leeds.  It aims to be an ‘exciting and engaging neighbourhood that will provide a home and a heart for Leeds’ contemporary cultural scene’

Caddick Developments has been appointed by Moda Living to construct two C-shaped 16-storey apartment blocks which will be available to the rental market.    The buildings will have a public courtyard in between them and rooftop terraces that overlook the centre of Leeds and the development will create some of the largest public green areas within central Leeds.

In this first phase, these contemporary apartment blocks will offer 515 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and will also offer on-site amenities including shared loungers, flexible workspaces, gym and fitness facilities plus two commercial units on the ground floor.

Swanmac will install 1400 wave curtains to all bedrooms in a phased installation across 12 months, with completion due in early 2022.  The wave system provides a soft, continuous-wave effect, similar to that of eyelet curtains. However, this system allows the fabric to neatly hang directly below the track providing a minimalist appearance in keeping with the contemporary design of these apartments.
