The Alexander Stadium was the focal point of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Following an investment of £72million and hosting the opening and closing ceremony of the games, the stadium is now set to become available to the public for use.
Works have included the development of a new west stand plus a new north and south bowl, increasing permanent capacity from 12,700 to 18,000.
The stadium has hosted Rugby League and British Athletics since the Games and will go on to host concerts and community activities. Birmingham City University will also be relocating its sports faculty and sports science unit.
Our team will be onsite during the last quarter of 2023 to install chain-operated roller blinds with solarfade fabric, which is anti-fade, colourfast and will help to manage sun coming into the building, and reduce the levels of heat escaping during cooler months. We’ll also be installing Silent Gliss cubicle tracks and disposable curtains. Both products will be installed in the Sports therapy suite and Physiology Lab.
