The team at Swanmac has been instructed to install crank operated roller blinds throughout the new Aston Martin manufacturing facility in St Athan, South Wales.

The first DBX is due to roll off the production line this year, at this new plant which has created up to 750 new roles.  Technicians have already been recruited and are currently working on the DB11 at Aston Martin’s Gaydon HQ in training for their roles in St Athan.

The site will be the home Aston Martin’s electrification and of its Lagonda brand – the world’s first zero-emission luxury car. The building itself is the result of the conversion of three super-hangars, redeveloped into a state-of-art facility. The design incorporates the use of slate chippings and the entrance is flanked by six slate slabs in recognition of its location in Wales.

Dr Andy Palmer, Aston Martin President and Chief Executive Officer, said: Aston Martin sees itself as a future leader in the development of zero-emission technologies, and I am delighted that St Athan will be our ‘home of electrification’ for both the Aston Martin and Lagonda brands.

The decision to bring this facility to Wales is an exciting move for both the principality and Aston Martin and indeed for the Swanmac team. We’re looking forward to completing this installation very soon!
