As part of a £260m investment in its teaching, learning and student experience by Cardiff University, the construction of a 10,000 m2 brand new purpose-built school for computers science and mathematics which aims to promote collaboration and research, is underway.

The six-storey building has been designed by Stride Treglown and Adjaye Associates.  Located near the centre of the Welsh capital, it will incorporate features to reduce any visual or physical impact of the new building on local residents.

Working with lead contractor, ISG, our installation team will be onsite during the Spring and Summer of 2021 and will install Silent Gliss roller blinds throughout.  Silent Gliss blinds are tough, space-saving and have a silent and smooth operating mechanism.  They are available in a wide range of fabrics and colours and will provide protection to those inside from UV rays. This protection helps to boost productivity and learning by providing a comfortable and safe environment.

Professor Rudolf Allemann, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering, said:

“We are looking forward to progressing our plans with contractor ISG. ….“Both Schools are expanding their student numbers so this will enable us to accommodate the growth in a modern, bespoke building, as well as supporting innovative joint degree schemes.”
