With a project budget of £4.5million, the Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre (BIRC) is the flagship unit of Huntercombe Brain Injury Centres in the UK.

Patients of the centre are classed as level 1; that is profoundly and significantly brain-injured and as such, are receiving rehabilitation appropriate to their needs.

The new unit opened in September 2016 and houses 29 en-suite bedrooms, 8 of which are classed as high dependency where patients receive round the clock treatment.   The Centre also has several meeting rooms, 2 assisted bath areas, a state of the art gym and a self-contained apartment to help patients prepare for life in their own home, away from the Centre.

Working with Prestige Building Contracts, Swanmac installed a range of products in this state-of-the-art Centre, including vertical blinds, electric roller blinds, curtain tracks, shower tracks and cubicle tracks.  And we are delighted to have done so!

Officially opened on January 20th, 2017 by HRH Princess Anne, this project was shortlisted for the Pinders Healthcare Design award in London in March 2017.
