IMPACT Research Facility in Swansea
Location: Swansea
Sector: Education
Specifier: Kier Construction
Products used: Chain operated sunscreen roller blinds, powder coated blackout blinds

The Impact (Institute for Innovative Materials, Processing and Numerical Technologies Project) Building, based on the Swansea Bay Campus of Swansea University is to become a semi-autonomous research institute at the heart of Swansea.

It will have strategic research objectives that focus on science and technology and house over 65 researchers from Swansea University and a further 150 others. The institute will have a very clear ethos: bringing together world-leading expertise from across the College of Engineering, creating teams from different subjects who can attract funding and other experts to take forward research.

Working alongside Kier Construction the team from Swanmac will install a range of products in early 2019. Chain operated sunscreen roller blinds will be installed to all teaching areas to ensure that the perfect teaching and learning environment is created and maintained for students and lecturers alike. This is achieved by maintaining heat levels and also ensuring that protection from the sun’s strong glare is given.

Additionally, powder coated blackout blinds to meeting rooms will provide complete blackout to provide privacy and also help to ensure that digital presentations are as effective as possible, whilst the radio operated blinds installed at height will ensure that all of the above are managed with precision and with ease, via the touch of a button.
