In January 2019, Little Heath Secondary School in Tilehurst, Reading heard that it had secured funding for the development of a new school building. Works began just weeks later with an opening date for the end of 2020.
The school was founded in 1963 and currently has a roll number of 1,650 students, therefore renovation is much needed. The funding itself was obtained via the Government’s Priority School Building Programme 2 (PSBP2) which aims to rebuild or replace the schools across the UK that need it the most.
Due to Coronavirus, works have been delayed, but main contractor Wates has been onsite during the Spring to carry our preparatory works for this £14.8 million project.
The new building will house the central administration of the school, the main hall, kitchen and dining room, a performance area with tiered seating, technology rooms plus additional classrooms.
We will be onsite during the last months of 2020 to install child-safe roller blinds to all classrooms, plus electric blinds to the main hall. These products are safe and durable and provide pinpoint precision and protection from the sun’s harmful rays.
