An investment of £30 million as a part of the 21st Century Schools programme has resulted in the development of a new super-school in Newport, which will accommodate 1200 pupils aged between 11-16 years. This is the largest single investment in the programme to date in the Torfaen area.
The school is being developed on the site of the existing school – which is a very out-dated 60s built construction in need of significant renovation. The new building will be three storeys high with a double-height assembly hall, dining area, drama and learning resource centre.
Working alongside Kier Construction, Swanmac is delighted to have been instructed to supply and install a range of roller blinds throughout the new school.
Chain-operated roller blinds will be installed throughout, ensuring that pupils, administrative staff and teachers are able to adjust the levels of light that enter into offices and classrooms to ensure the best possible temperatures and light levels for learning minds.
In addition, heavy-duty electrically operated blinds are to be installed at height allowing protection from the sun’s rays, and maintenance of appropriate shading at the touch of a button.
We are delighted to have been instructed with this installation and wish the staff and pupils well in their new school.
