Now approaching the final stages of construction, The Whitelands Academy will open in September this year to 600 pupils. Its mission is to provide children with the best possible education and the securest of environments.
At over 5,000 sq m, students will benefit from 26 classrooms which include SEN facilities, a garden, four-court sports hall, sports pitches and a multi-use games area. The main hall will be linked to a drama studio and the dining area is designed with a covered seating area and the required kitchens, office and parking areas. Externally, the academy will offer social spaces that include allotments, plus quiet areas for those that require them.
The teaching area will be set over 3-storeys, whilst the administration and dining facility will be a single storey. Under instruction from Keir Construction, Swanmac will be onsite to install a range of powder-coated blackout blinds to the main hall and dim-out roller blinds to classrooms.
Powder-coated blinds offer a choice of colour to suit the décor of the new school and provide the complete blackout required for performances, assemblies and so on. We are installing dark grey in this instance to match the interior decor of the hall. Our dim-out blinds, however, do not provide complete blackout but manage the levels of light entering the classrooms to ensure that students and staff are protected from the sun’s rays whilst in a learning environment.
We wish the staff and pupils of this stunning new academy in Oxfordshire the very best!
