This brand new £21m school will bring two existing schools together under one roof. Due for completion in early 2021, Polden Bower will provide places for 160 students between the ages of 4 – 16. It will also offer an additional 40 places for those aged 16 -19 years of age on one of the existing sites.
Work is currently underway with contractor Willmott Dixon. The new building will be over two storeys and provide specialist support for children with significant mobility difficulties.
Across three wings, the school will offer a hydrotherapy pool, a sports hall, dining hall, sensory and therapy rooms, meeting rooms and all classrooms will be fully accessible, supported with the latest teaching technology. There will also be a sensory garden, multi-use games area and adventure playground.
In addition, an onsite café will help students aged 16+ develop their vocational skills and also engender engagement with parents and the wider, local community.
Alongside the team from Willmott Dixon, Swanmac will be onsite during late 2020 to install over 200 child-safe roller blinds, operated with heavy-duty crank handles. We’ll also be installing electric rooflight blinds at height and are very much looking forward to getting on-site for this installation.
