‘A Block’ is a Grade II listed building that is part of Somerset County Hall, currently undergoing a £10m refurbishment project.
Contractor Willmott Dixon has been awarded the contract which will enable Somerset Council to enable the Council to operate on a greater in-house basis, ultimately saving taxpayer money. A part of the refurbishment will also ensure that a shared heating system between County Hall and Shire Hall (also a Grade II listed municipal building) is fit for purposes.
During the refurbishment, A Block has been closed to the public but is now due to open in Spring 2020.
Just prior to this, the Swanmac team will be onsite to install over 200 Silent Gliss Venetian Blinds to all perimeter windows. Venetian blinds provide protection from glare throughout the day and allow users to adjust them to pinpoint precision, thus ensuring the exact levels of light and shading required.
We’re looking forward to getting on-site and helping the interior of this Grade II listed building return to its former glory.
