Spirax-Sarco Engineering is a multi-national firm that specialises in the control and management of steam and electric thermal solutions. The firm has three in the Cheltenham area including its company headquarters, which is a Grade II listed building, Charlton House. It also has a further site in Swindon and a total UK staff of 1100.
Charlton House has an existing 1950s extension which has needed redevelopment and so a new 33,000 sq ft extension is now in development and will be completed towards the end of 2023 with staff returning to the site at the beginning of 2024. The Grade II building itself is also being refurbished as a part of the redevelopment.
The designs by architects Robert Slimbrick have been created in line with the firm’s sustainability strategy and are sympathetic to the building’s original character and its setting. They include a curved structure which wraps around the rear courtyard, with landscaping to reflect its locality. The design will provide 180 workstations, workspaces, a gym, breakout areas and an auditorium. It is contemporary in its design and will complement the existing listed building.
Our team will be onsite at the end of 2023 to install electric roller blinds to all external windows. These blinds are efficient, virtually silent, and can be programmed to stop at intermittent points or be operated into position by remote or hard-wire.
