As part of the devolution of Welsh Government administration to the west and north of Wales, a regional office was opened in Aberystwyth in 2009.
Designed by architects Powell Dobson, the BREEAM Excellent rated building provides an energy efficient working environment for some 500 members of staff.
The ground floor comprises the high occupancy areas and required mechanical ventilation. The upper floors meanwhile, consist of cellular space, grouped at either end of open plan and naturally ventilated wings. Heating and hot water are provided by an off-site biomass boiler which supplies both the Welsh Government and Ceredigion County Council Buildings.
Swanmac was instructed, and delighted, to install 180 Silent Gliss roller blinds to all office windows. Each roller blind contains sunscreen fabric, providing protection from the sun’s harmful glare and rays, whilst allowing natural light to filter through as required.
