A £multi-million development to replace the current school, the new Whitworth Community High School will provide over 5000 sq metres of first-class educational space for 11-16-year-old pupils and a teaching complement of 84 full-time staff.
The school will comprise a two and three-storey main teaching block with classrooms, a main hall and specialist technology teaching areas. There will also be a new entrance plaza, landscaping plus parking. The existing sports hall will be retained.
The school is one of 12 schools that form part of the DoEs pilot scheme, the School Rebuilding Programme, which aims to deliver buildings that operate as Net Zero Carbon.
Our team will be onsite in December to install fully enclosed blackout blinds. These blinds have a headbox and side channels to ensure that light does not leak into the room around the edges of the windows. This will ensure that when complete blackout is achieved when required.
