Set around four existing eight-storey blocks, the Winnall Residential development will deliver two new apartment blocks and three new houses.
The new blocks will stand at five storeys and provide 73 one and two-bedroomed flats.
Designed to Passivhaus Low Energy Building standard, they will be set as single-aspect dwellings facing east or west. Winchester City Council has committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2030, and this scheme is a prime example of how the council aims to meet this target.
The three two-bedroom houses are designed to AECB (Association of Environmentally Conscious Builders) standards, and outside spaces will be upgraded, improving the amenity area, car parking and pedestrian access.
Lead contractor Wates has instructed Swanmac to install 400 perfect-fit pleated blinds during the first quarter of 2024. These blinds have a streamlined appearance and allow for maximising window space. They also help to insulate and provide warmth and are, of course, child-safe thanks to no cords or chains. They are also an excellent solution for tilt and turn windows.
