The local landscape and the national anthem of Wales have been the inspiration behind the design and redevelopment of the YMCA building in Pontypridd, South Wales.
The work will completely renovate the building which is over 110 years old, and a central feature of the town.
Now nearing completion, the £4million centre which has been funded by the Arts Council for Wales and the local council is set to become a home for culture, creativity and the arts. The building design reflects the rivers as they flow through the valleys from the Brecon Beacons and the Welsh National anthem which will be overlayed onto the building’s artwork.
On the inside, a complete refurbishment will centre around Shelley Hall and several community spaces which may be used by local groups.
#TeamSwanmac will be onsite to install bespoke blackout curtains in the concert halls. These made-to-measure blackout curtains provide full blackout and also provide soundproofing so that performances don’t disturb other areas of the YMCA in use during performances or practice. These curtains also provide insulation, thus helping the centre keep energy bills to a minimum.
